Two separate costs
The biggest source of confusion with Google Ads is that there are two different costs:
- Management. What you pay someone to build, run and improve your campaigns. With us, Google Ads management is part of the Dominate plan, from $949 per month.
- Ad spend. What you pay Google for clicks. This is separate and paid directly. It’s your advertising budget.
Keeping them separate means you always see exactly where your ad budget goes.
What the Dominate plan includes
Dominate isn’t only ad management. From $949 per month, it includes:
| Included in Dominate | What it does |
|---|---|
| Google Ads / PPC management | Campaigns, keywords, ads, bidding and ongoing tuning |
| Landing pages | Focused pages that turn clicks into calls |
| AI web chat | Answers questions and captures leads on your site |
| Online booking | Lets customers book without calling |
| Everything in Growth | Local SEO, GBP posting, LSA management, monthly report |
| Everything in the Spotlight System | Website, missed-call text-back, review requests, one inbox |
Ad spend is not included in the plan price. There’s no long-term contract.

What drives your ad spend
We don’t publish ad spend figures, because they vary too much to be honest about in general. These are the main factors:
- Your trade. Some services, like emergency plumbing or roofing, have more advertisers competing for the same searches.
- Your area. Bigger, busier areas usually mean more competition.
- Your competition. How many other businesses are bidding on the same searches.
- How much work you want. More budget can mean more clicks, if you can handle the calls.
- Your landing pages and follow-up. Better pages and fast replies get more value from every click.
Setting a budget
We set your ad spend together on the demo call. A good starting budget:
- Is one you’re comfortable with for a test period.
- Covers your most valuable services first.
- Leaves room to adjust once we see what’s working.

Watch for blended pricing
If a quote combines management and ad spend into one number, ask how much actually goes to Google. You should always be able to see your ad spend separately.
Getting more from every dollar
- Send clicks to landing pages, not your homepage. See why Google Ads should send clicks to a landing page.
- Answer fast. Missed-call text-back and instant replies keep paid leads from going cold.
- Track conversions so budget goes to the ads that bring calls.
Compare with other plans
If ads aren’t right yet, Growth (from $449 per month) includes local SEO and Local Services Ads management, which bills per lead. See every published price on our pricing page.
What good management looks like
Management is more than turning ads on. Good Google Ads management for a local business includes:
- Choosing the right searches and excluding ones that won’t bring customers.
- Writing ads that match what people search and what you offer.
- Building landing pages that match the ads.
- Setting up conversion tracking for calls, forms and bookings.
- Adjusting budgets and bids based on what’s working.
- Reviewing results regularly and cutting what isn’t.
That ongoing attention is what the management fee pays for.
Red flags in any Google Ads offer
- No access to your own ad account or results.
- Ad spend and fees blended into one number you can’t see into.
- Promises of a guaranteed number of leads.
- No conversion tracking, so nobody really knows what’s working.
- Long contracts with no way out.
With Dominate, ad spend is separate and paid directly, and there’s no long-term contract.
Starting small
You don’t need a huge budget to start. A focused campaign on your most valuable service in your core area, with a good landing page and fast follow-up, is a sensible test. Once you see which searches bring jobs, you can decide whether to grow.
Thinking about the full cost
When you plan, include three things: the Dominate plan price, your ad spend, and the time you’ll spend answering new leads. Our free budget planner on the tools page can help you total the published plan prices over a year. Ad spend is up to you and isn’t included in the planner.
